Overview
The
purpose of CBTAF is to provide institutional
support to civil society organizations (CSO's)
that are working to promote good governance in
South Africa . The overall expected outcome of
CBTAF is improved livelihoods for poor and
vulnerable persons, including women and those
impacted by HIV/AIDS. CBTAF contributes towards
improved service delivery in South Africa by
strengthening the capacity of civil society
organizations to influence accountable and
transparent governance.
CBTAF supports requests for training and
learning exchanges between South African civil
society organizations and organizations in
Canada, Africa or elsewhere in the world, or any
other form of technical assistance that would
help build the capacity of the requesting CSO.
CBTAF funding CANNOT be used to fund
infrastructure, items of a capital nature,
salaries, operational costs or medical expenses.
Requests for proposals for CBTAF funding are
announced in the local newspapers, on the CIDA
website and on this website.
So far CBTAF has requested two rounds for
proposals. The first round was called for in
November 2008. Five CSO's were successful in
their submission of proposals. All five projects
are to start on 1 March 2009. The second round
was called for in February 2009 and the deadline
for the submissions of proposals is 6 March
2009.
Guidelines for the submission of proposals can
be obtained from the CBTAF Fund Management at
